The single visible eye of the woman in the foreground — emblem of the Queen of Clubs, one of the French playing cards — along with the single eye of the face emerging toward the upper right of the painting, gazes, questions, or turns ideally toward an “elsewhere.”
The two emblematic figures are both separated and, at the same time, ideally united by a glimpse of one of Florence’s most prestigious symbols: the Basilica of Santa Croce, one of the largest Franciscan churches and one of the finest achievements of Gothic architecture in Italy.
I created this artwork by infusing every oil brushstroke with deep emotion, offering a journey through Expressionism and Metaphysics. I drew inspiration from the surreality of dreams and memories to provoke reflection. The art evokes an ethereal sense of nostalgia and contemplation — perfect for bringing energy and mystery into any space.
