An artwork illuminated by the shimmering reflection of guanine — the silvery substance produced by fish between their scales or in other parts of their bodies. It is inspired by the fish market of Florence, where, wandering through its heart, I felt immersed in its atmosphere and came to know the city’s other facets — its customs, expressions, traditions, scents, colors, and the vocal inflections of the fishmongers.
I sought to capture above all the intensity and raw reality of life at sea. Earthy tones blend with vivid accents of color, reflecting humanity’s struggle against nature. The faces reveal powerful emotions — fatigue, hope, and resilience.
This painting will bring into your home a wave of passion and a call to the deepest human roots.
