Oil on canvas
The single visible eye of the face in the foreground — along with the single eye of the face emerging near the center of the painting — gazes, questions, or turns ideally toward an “elsewhere.” This is expressed through the seal of a fan of playing cards that partly conceals and divides them, yet perhaps even more powerfully unites and reveals them.
The painting is dominated by a glimpse of Florence’s main church, the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, which appears to be set like a jewel between the two mysterious faces. In this work, I poured passion and emotional intensity, using oil paint to explore Expressionism and Surrealism, intertwining the human figure with metaphysical elements.
Through the faces and gazes that emerge, I convey mystery and reflection, inviting the viewer to personal introspection. This vivid and evocative canvas will bring into your home an energy of deep contemplation.
