Modern Icarus, overthinking instead of flying
This painting was born from a feeling many of us know too well.
The feeling of being ready to rise, to change, to fly—
but holding back because of fear, doubt, or too many thoughts.
In this work, I didn’t want to show the Icarus from ancient myths, the one who flew too close to the sun and fell.
Instead, I painted a modern Icarus: someone full of light and power, sitting still, lost in his thoughts.
His wings are made of fire and gold, a gift from a phoenix behind him—strong, beautiful, alive.
But he doesn't move. He waits.
He thinks too much.
The phoenix glows in the background, like a rising sun. It’s already flying. It represents transformation, courage, and freedom.
But Icarus hesitates.
This painting is about that moment in life when you know you’re ready…
but you don’t take the first step.
The texture is bold and expressive. The wings are painted with thick, glowing strokes that give life and movement. The figure is softer, human, thoughtful.
It’s a contrast between fire and silence, between action and waiting.
I created this piece to remind us all:
you don’t have to be perfect to start.
You just have to trust.
Your wings are already there.
Place this painting in a space where you need motivation, energy, or a little push to believe in yourself again.
It’s not just a piece of art—it’s a mirror, a message, a promise:
You were made to fly.
