This artwork tells of a sense of emptiness unfolding beneath the arches of the Loggia of the Spedale degli Innocenti in Florence (by Filippo Brunelleschi). In the foreground, it extends through the delicate balance of a house of cards that almost seems to imprison Michelangelo’s David. The ephemeral nature that has so often shaped the material and spiritual habits of life is embodied in the face of the collective consciousness — partially hidden behind a section of the card structure and partially revealed through the visible eye and smile, reaching into the deepest “self” and probing new paths.
Each oil brushstroke is a fervent emotional impulse exploring the nuances of Expressionism and Surrealism. The figurative composition, framed by metaphysical elements, invites an inner journey — a discovery of the unconscious.
